Ingredients
Scale
Sandwich
- 2 slices of bread (white, whole wheat, sourdough, or your choice)
- 2–3 slices of cheese (cheddar, American, or your choice)
Butter
- 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
Instructions
- Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) to ensure even cooking of the sandwich.
- Butter the Bread: Spread softened butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread for a golden, crispy exterior.
- Assemble Sandwich: Place the cheese slices between the unbuttered sides of the bread, making sure the buttered sides face outwards.
- Prepare Air Fryer Basket: Place the sandwich in the air fryer basket. Optionally, use a parchment liner to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
- Cook First Side: Air fry the sandwich for 4-5 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and crispy.
- Flip Sandwich: Flip the sandwich over carefully to cook the other side.
- Cook Second Side: Continue air frying for another 3-4 minutes until the bread is golden and the cheese has melted thoroughly.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the grilled cheese sandwich to cool for 1-2 minutes before slicing and serving to avoid burns and to let flavors meld.
Notes
- You can use any bread or cheese variety based on your preference.
- Using a parchment liner in the air fryer basket helps prevent sticking and makes cleanup easier.
- Check the sandwich around the 4-minute mark on the first side to prevent overcooking depending on your air fryer’s heat intensity.
- Let the sandwich rest briefly to avoid the cheese being too hot and to improve texture.
