Description

Baked Yogurt with Cinnamon is a creamy, subtly sweet Indian-inspired dessert made by gently baking Greek yogurt blended with sweetened condensed milk, whole milk, and aromatic cinnamon. This custard-like treat is set in a water bath for a delicate texture and chilled before serving, making it a perfect healthy indulgence with a hint of spice.

Ingredients

Scale

Yogurt Mixture

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Garnish (Optional)

  • Ground cinnamon for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C) ensuring it reaches the right temperature for gentle baking.
  2. Mix Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the Greek yogurt, sweetened condensed milk, whole milk, ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until the mixture is smooth and fully combined.
  3. Prepare Ramekins: Pour the yogurt mixture evenly into small ramekins or oven-safe cups, filling them almost to the top.
  4. Create Water Bath: Place the ramekins into a baking dish and carefully pour hot water into the dish so that it reaches halfway up the sides of the ramekins, which helps the yogurt bake gently and evenly.
  5. Bake: Transfer the baking dish to the oven and bake the yogurt for 25 to 30 minutes. The yogurt should be just set with a slight jiggle in the center to achieve a creamy custard texture.
  6. Cool and Chill: Remove the ramekins from the oven and let them cool to room temperature. Then refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the flavor and texture to fully develop.
  7. Serve: Before serving, optionally sprinkle a little ground cinnamon on top. Enjoy this dessert chilled for a refreshing and comforting treat.

Notes

  • You can adjust the sweetness by reducing the amount of condensed milk or adding a drizzle of honey before serving.
  • For a dairy-free version, substitute Greek yogurt with coconut yogurt and use plant-based milk instead of whole milk.
  • This dessert pairs beautifully with fresh fruit or a few toasted nuts on top for added texture and flavor.
