Description

This Beef and Cabbage Stir Fry is a quick and flavorful Asian-inspired dish that is perfect for a busy weeknight dinner. The combination of savory ground beef, crunchy vegetables, and a delicious sauce makes this stir fry a family favorite.

Ingredients

Scale

Ground Beef Stir Fry:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 small onion, sliced

Vegetables:

  • 4 cups green cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 1 large carrot, julienned or shredded

Sauce and Garnish:

  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water (optional, for thickening)
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook Ground Beef: In a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat, cook ground beef in sesame oil until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess fat if needed.
  2. Sauté Aromatics: Add garlic, ginger, and onion; sauté until fragrant and onion softens.
  3. Add Vegetables: Stir in cabbage and carrot; cook until tender-crisp.
  4. Make Sauce: Add soy sauce, rice vinegar, and hoisin sauce; simmer.
  5. Thicken (Optional): For a thicker sauce, stir in cornstarch slurry; cook until thickened.
  6. Finish and Serve: Remove from heat, top with green onions and sesame seeds; serve hot.

Notes

  • Great served over rice, cauliflower rice, or noodles.
  • Use shredded coleslaw mix for a shortcut.
  • Add chili flakes or sriracha for a spicy kick.
