Ingredients
Scale
Vegetables
- 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
Seasonings and Add-ins
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional)
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Blanch Green Beans: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the green beans and cook for 3 to 4 minutes until they become crisp-tender. Immediately drain and transfer them to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process, then drain again and set aside.
- Sauté Garlic: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 to 2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to let the garlic brown.
- Cook Green Beans in Garlic Butter: Add the blanched green beans to the skillet. Toss them to coat evenly with the garlic butter. Season with salt and black pepper. Continue to sauté for 2 to 3 more minutes until heated through and well combined.
- Finish and Serve: Remove the skillet from heat. Drizzle the green beans with lemon juice if using, and sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley. Serve warm as a flavorful side dish.
Notes
- You can blanch the green beans ahead of time and keep them refrigerated to save time on the day of serving.
- For extra richness, stir in an additional tablespoon of butter at the end of cooking.
- Adjust seasoning to taste if using salted butter instead of unsalted.
