Description

Classic Beef Rissoles are flavorful, pan-fried beef patties made with a blend of ground beef, onion, breadcrumbs, and savory seasonings. Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, these rissoles make a perfect hearty meal served alongside mashed potatoes or fresh salad.

Ingredients

Scale

Rissoles

  • 1 lb (500g) ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp tomato sauce (ketchup)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For Frying

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, chopped onion, breadcrumbs, egg, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated.
  2. Shape the rissoles: Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape each portion into oval or round patties, known as rissoles.
  3. Heat the pan: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat, ensuring the oil is hot enough for frying but not smoking.
  4. Cook the rissoles: Add the rissoles to the skillet and cook them for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown on the outside and cooked through inside.
  5. Drain excess oil: Once cooked, remove the rissoles from the skillet and place them on paper towels to drain any excess oil.
  6. Serve: Serve the hot rissoles with your choice of mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables, or fresh salad for a complete and satisfying meal.

Notes

  • Ensure the rissoles are cooked thoroughly to an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C) for ground beef safety.
  • You can substitute breadcrumbs with gluten-free breadcrumbs to accommodate dietary needs.
  • For a juicier texture, avoid overmixing the meat mixture as it can make rissoles dense.
  • Leftover rissoles can be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 1 month.
