Description

These Cowboy Mushrooms are a flavor-packed side dish featuring sautéed baby bella mushrooms with a kick of jalapeño and savory seasonings. Perfect for topping burgers or filling tacos, this dish is a must-try for mushroom lovers.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Cowboy Mushrooms:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 16 oz baby bella mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 small yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 jalapeño pepper, finely diced (seeds removed for less heat)
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat the skillet: Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Sauté mushrooms: Add mushrooms and cook for 5–7 minutes until they release moisture and begin to brown.
  3. Add aromatics: Add onion, garlic, and jalapeño; cook for another 3–4 minutes until softened.
  4. Season: Stir in smoked paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper.
  5. Add sauces: Pour in Worcestershire and soy sauce; stir well to coat the mushrooms.
  6. Finish: Cook for 2–3 more minutes until most liquid is absorbed.
  7. Garnish and serve: Remove from heat, garnish with parsley, and serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra richness, consider adding cream or shredded cheese at the end.
  • Portobello or white mushrooms can be used as alternatives to baby bella mushrooms.
