Eggs and Filling
- 6 large eggs
- 1/3 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tsp yellow mustard
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp paprika
Decoration
- Olive slices (for eyes)
- Carrot pieces (for beaks)
Instructions
- Boil the Eggs: Place the eggs in a pot and cover them with cold water. Bring the water to a boil over medium heat. Once boiling, cover the pot, remove it from heat, and let the eggs sit for 12 minutes to cook through.
- Cool and Peel: Transfer the eggs to an ice bath to cool quickly. Once cool, gently tap and roll each egg under your palm to crack the shell, then carefully peel the shells off.
- Prepare the Filling: Slice each egg lengthwise in half and carefully scoop the yolks into a mixing bowl. Add mayonnaise, yellow mustard, salt, black pepper, and paprika to the yolks. Mix well until the filling is smooth and creamy.
- Create Chick Shapes: Transfer the yolk mixture to a piping bag or a plastic sandwich bag with a tiny corner snipped off. Pipe the filling back into each egg white half, shaping it neatly to resemble the chick’s body.
- Add Features: Decorate each deviled egg by placing olive slices as eyes and small carrot pieces as beaks to create the chick faces.
- Serve: Arrange the decorated deviled egg chicks on a serving platter and serve fresh for a delightful appetizer.
Notes
- Use fresh eggs for the best peeling results.
- Adjust mayonnaise and mustard quantities to taste for creaminess and tanginess.
- Try different toppings such as small peppercorns for eyes or red bell pepper for beaks.
- Prepare eggs a day in advance and keep refrigerated, but add decorations just before serving.
