Dough:
- 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F)
- 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
For the filling:
- ⅓ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ½ cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
For the glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Add egg, melted butter, flour, and salt. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead by hand or with a dough hook for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Cover and let rest for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, mix brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
- Roll the dough out on a floured surface into a 14×9-inch rectangle. Spread softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle with cinnamon sugar mixture.
- Roll tightly from the long edge and slice into 12 rolls. Place rolls in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cover and let rise in a warm place for 20 minutes. Preheat oven to 375°F.
- Bake rolls for 18–20 minutes until golden brown. In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla for the glaze.
- Drizzle over warm rolls before serving.
Notes
- To speed up the rise, place the rolls in a slightly warm oven (turned off) with a bowl of hot water underneath.
- These rolls are best served fresh but can be reheated gently in the microwave.
