Description

These Fig and Goat Cheese Pinwheels are a delightful combination of sweet fig jam, tangy goat cheese, and flaky puff pastry, making them a perfect appetizer for any occasion. They are easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale

Puff Pastry:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)

Fig and Goat Cheese Filling:

  • ½ cup fig jam or preserves
  • 4 oz goat cheese (softened)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (optional)
  • Pinch of salt

Additional:

  • 1 egg (beaten with 1 tablespoon water for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon honey (for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the Puff Pastry: Unroll the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Spread fig jam evenly over the surface, leaving a ½-inch border.
  3. Add the Filling: Crumble the goat cheese evenly over the jam, sprinkle with thyme and a pinch of salt.
  4. Roll and Slice: Starting from one long edge, tightly roll the pastry into a log. Slice into ½-inch rounds and place on the prepared baking sheet, cut side up.
  5. Brush with Egg Wash: Brush the tops with egg wash.
  6. Bake: Bake for 15–18 minutes or until golden and puffed.
  7. Drizzle with Honey: Remove from oven and drizzle lightly with honey.
  8. Serve: Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • For a savory twist, add chopped walnuts or prosciutto before rolling.
  • Pinwheels can be assembled ahead and refrigerated until ready to bake.
