Description

Indulge in the comforting flavors of Grandma’s Meat Sauce Pasta with Burrata – a classic Italian dish with a creamy twist that’s perfect for a cozy night in.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat Sauce:

  • 1 pound ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 small onion (finely chopped)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • ½ cup whole milk

Other:

  • 12 ounces pasta (rigatoni or spaghetti)
  • 2 large burrata balls (4 ounces each)
  • fresh basil leaves (for garnish)
  • grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat Olive Oil: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Cook Onion and Garlic: Add chopped onion, cook until soft, then add garlic and cook for 1–2 minutes.
  3. Cook Beef: Stir in ground beef, cook until browned, breaking it up.
  4. Add Flavors: Add tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, red pepper flakes, salt, pepper, and sugar. Simmer.
  5. Simmer Sauce: Stir in milk and simmer sauce gently for 20–30 minutes.
  6. Cook Pasta: Meanwhile, cook pasta until al dente, then toss with the meat sauce.
  7. Serve: Divide pasta into bowls, top with torn burrata, basil, and Parmesan. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For deeper flavor, let the sauce simmer for up to an hour.
  • You can substitute ground turkey or plant-based meat if preferred.
  • Burrata adds a rich, creamy contrast—tear it just before serving for a dramatic presentation.
