Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Prepare the dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- Make the cake batter: In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla, then mix in the sour cream and mashed bananas. Gradually add dry ingredients, fold in walnuts.
- Bake the cakes: Divide batter between pans and bake for 25–30 minutes. Cool on wire racks.
- Prepare the frosting: Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar, then beat in vanilla and cream until fluffy.
- Assemble the cake: Frost the cooled cakes, stack, and garnish with walnuts and banana slices.
