Dry Ingredients
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 cup self-rising flour
- 1 cup chopped pecans
Wet Ingredients
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- ¼ cup honey
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, self-rising flour, and chopped pecans ensuring the nuts are evenly distributed.
- Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs, vegetable oil, honey, vanilla extract, and melted butter until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Add the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined to keep the batter tender; do not overmix.
- Pour Batter and Bake: Pour the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top. Bake for 30–35 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the pecanbread to cool slightly in the pan before slicing it into 12 squares. Serve warm or at room temperature, optionally drizzling additional melted honey butter over the top for extra richness.
Notes
- For extra richness, drizzle additional melted honey butter over the top before serving.
- To make your own self-rising flour: combine 1 cup all-purpose flour with 1½ teaspoons baking powder and ¼ teaspoon salt.
