Description

Jalapeño Popper Egg Rolls are a crispy, creamy, and spicy twist on the classic appetizer. Filled with a rich blend of cream cheese, cheddar, bacon, and fresh jalapeños, these golden-brown rolls make the perfect party snack or game day treat—deliciously crunchy on the outside and gooey on the inside.

Ingredients

Scale

Filling

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 3 fresh jalapeños, seeded and finely diced
  • 1 green onion, finely chopped
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

Assembly

  • 12 egg roll wrappers
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

Optional

  • Ranch or chipotle dipping sauce

Instructions

  1. Prepare the filling: In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, crumbled cooked bacon, finely diced jalapeños, chopped green onion, and garlic powder. Mix until all ingredients are well blended and evenly combined.
  2. Assemble the egg rolls: Lay one egg roll wrapper on a clean, flat surface with one corner facing towards you. Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the prepared filling onto the center of the wrapper. Fold the bottom corner up over the filling, then fold in the left and right sides tightly. Roll the wrapper up firmly towards the opposite corner to enclose the filling, sealing the edge with a small amount of water to ensure it sticks. Repeat this process with the remaining wrappers and filling.
  3. Heat the oil: Pour enough oil into a deep pan to reach about 2 inches in depth. Heat the oil to 350°F (175°C), ensuring it reaches the proper temperature before frying to achieve a crispy texture.
  4. Fry the egg rolls: Carefully place the assembled egg rolls in batches into the hot oil. Fry them for 3 to 4 minutes, turning occasionally to brown all sides evenly until they become golden brown and crispy on the outside.
  5. Drain and serve: Remove the fried egg rolls from the oil using a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil. Serve the egg rolls hot alongside your choice of ranch or chipotle dipping sauce for added flavor.

Notes

  • You can bake or air fry the egg rolls for a lighter alternative to deep frying.
  • To reduce the spiciness, use fewer jalapeños or substitute with diced green chilies.
  • Egg rolls can be assembled ahead of time and frozen before frying; no need to thaw before cooking.
