For the dip:
- 1 loaf French bread or sourdough boule (round loaf)
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 1/2 cups sour cream
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup chopped cooked ham
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp hot sauce (optional)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Mix the dip: In a medium bowl, combine cream cheese, sour cream, cheddar cheese, ham, green onions, garlic powder, hot sauce, salt, and pepper.
- Prepare the bread: Slice off the top of the loaf and hollow out the center, leaving a 1-inch border. Fill the bread bowl with the dip mixture.
- Bake: Wrap the loaf in foil and bake for 40–45 minutes until hot and bubbly.
- Serve: Unwrap the loaf and serve warm with bread pieces or crackers.
Notes
- You can make the dip ahead of time and refrigerate until ready to bake.
- For a spicier version, add diced jalapeños or more hot sauce.
- The dip can also be baked in a dish instead of the bread bowl.
