Description

These Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls combine tender ribeye steak, sautéed vegetables, and melted provolone cheese wrapped in crispy fried egg roll wrappers for a delicious, game day-approved appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale

Filling

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 pound ribeye steak, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 cup mushrooms, chopped (optional)
  • 4 slices provolone cheese, chopped

Wrapping & Frying

  • 810 egg roll wrappers
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Small bowl of water for sealing

Instructions

  1. Cook Steak: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced ribeye steak, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 2–3 minutes until browned. Remove steak from skillet and set aside.
  2. Sauté Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the chopped onion, green bell pepper, and mushrooms (if using). Sauté for 3–4 minutes until the vegetables are softened.
  3. Combine Filling: Return the cooked steak to the skillet, then stir in the chopped provolone cheese. Cook until the cheese is melted and the mixture is well combined. Remove from heat and let the filling cool slightly.
  4. Prepare Egg Rolls: Lay out an egg roll wrapper with one corner pointing towards you. Place about 2 tablespoons of the cooled filling in the center of the wrapper. Fold the bottom corner over the filling, then fold in the sides, and roll tightly. Seal the edge with a bit of water. Repeat this process with remaining wrappers and filling.
  5. Fry Egg Rolls: Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or fryer to 350°F (175°C). Fry the egg rolls in batches for 3–4 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides. Avoid overcrowding.
  6. Drain and Serve: Remove the fried egg rolls and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil. Serve hot with your choice of dipping sauces such as cheese sauce or spicy ketchup.

Notes

  • Serve with cheese sauce or spicy ketchup for an extra flavor boost.
  • For a lighter option, bake egg rolls at 400°F for 18–20 minutes, brushing them with oil before baking.
  • Use thinly sliced ribeye steak for authentic Philly cheesesteak flavor and tenderness.
  • Make sure the filling cools before wrapping to prevent the wrappers from becoming soggy.
