Description
This refreshing Raspberry Lemonade recipe combines the tartness of freshly squeezed lemons with the sweet and vibrant flavor of raspberries. Perfect for hot summer days, this homemade beverage is easy to prepare and can be served chilled over ice, garnished with lemon slices and extra raspberries for a delightful presentation.
Ingredients
Scale
Raspberry Syrup
- 1 cup fresh raspberries
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup water (for simmering)
Main Lemonade
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4–6 lemons)
- 4 cups cold water
- Ice cubes
- Lemon slices, for garnish (optional)
- Extra raspberries, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare Raspberry Syrup: In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the fresh raspberries, granulated sugar, and 1 cup of water. Stir occasionally and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, mashing the raspberries softly with a spoon to release their juices.
- Simmer and Strain: Let the raspberry mixture simmer for 5 to 7 minutes until the sugar dissolves completely and the berries break down. Remove from heat and strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a large pitcher, pressing to extract as much liquid as possible while removing seeds and pulp.
- Add Lemon Juice and Water: Stir in the freshly squeezed lemon juice along with the remaining 4 cups of cold water into the pitcher. Mix thoroughly to combine all the flavors evenly.
- Adjust Flavor: Taste your lemonade and adjust sweetness or tartness if needed by adding more sugar or lemon juice according to your preference.
- Chill and Serve: Refrigerate the lemonade for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld and to chill the drink. Serve over ice cubes, and garnish with lemon slices and extra raspberries if desired for an attractive presentation.
Notes
- For a sparkling version, replace 2 cups of the cold water with club soda just before serving to add fizz.
- Freeze some lemonade in ice cube trays to prevent diluting your drink as the ice melts.
- You can adjust the sweetness by adding more or less sugar based on your taste preferences.
