- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt

- Mix Wet Ingredients: Combine sourdough starter, warm milk, water, honey, and softened butter. Add flour and salt, mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead: Knead by hand for 8–10 minutes or with a dough hook for 6–7 minutes until smooth.
- Rise: Let dough rise at room temperature for 4–6 hours until doubled in size.
- Shape: Shape dough into a log, place in a loaf pan, and let rise for 2–4 hours.
- Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 35–40 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool: Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- This bread can be proofed overnight in the fridge for a slower rise and enhanced flavor.
- For a softer crust, brush the top with melted butter while still warm.
- Store in a sealed bag at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze slices for later use.
