- 1 pound flank or sirloin steak (sliced thin against the grain)
For the Sauce:
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon chili paste or sriracha
- 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
- 4 cloves garlic minced
- 1/4 cup water
Other:
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 green onions sliced
- Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the Pasta: Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain and set aside.
- Prepare the Steak: Toss sliced steak with cornstarch and 1 tablespoon soy sauce. Let sit for 5–10 minutes.
- Make the Sauce: Mix the remaining soy sauce, brown sugar, chili paste, hoisin sauce, garlic, and water in a small bowl to form the sauce.
- Cook the Steak: Heat oil in a large skillet, sear steak until browned. Remove from pan and set aside.
- Finish the Dish: Reduce heat, pour the sauce into the skillet, simmer until thickened. Add pasta, toss to coat. Add steak back to the pan, mix together, adding pasta water if needed.
- Serve: Top with green onions and sesame seeds.
