Scale

Main Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup finely chopped walnuts

For Topping (Optional):

  • ¼ cup extra chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add Egg and Vanilla: Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  5. Fold in Walnuts: Fold in the chopped walnuts.
  6. Form Dough Balls: Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough, roll into balls, and place on the prepared baking sheets.
  7. Flatten and Top: Flatten slightly and top with extra walnut pieces if desired.
  8. Bake: Bake for 10–12 minutes until lightly golden.
  9. Cool: Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
