Ingredients
Scale
Spirit and Mixers
- ½ cup your choice of spirit (tequila recommended)
- ¼ cup triple sec or orange liqueur
- ⅓ cup freshly squeezed lime juice
Fruit and Sweetener
- 1 cup fresh watermelon, blended and strained
- 1-2 tbsp agave syrup (adjust to taste)
For Serving
- Ice
- Coarse salt or Tajín, for rimming (optional)
- Watermelon wedges, for garnish
- Lime wedges, for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the Glasses: Run a lime wedge around the rim of each glass, then dip the rims into coarse salt or Tajín to coat them evenly. Set the glasses aside to dry and develop flavor.
- Mix the Margarita: Blend fresh watermelon until smooth and then strain through a fine mesh to remove pulp. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine the spirit, triple sec, freshly squeezed lime juice, watermelon juice, and agave syrup. Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until the mixture is well chilled and slightly frothy.
- Serve & Garnish: Fill each prepared glass with fresh ice cubes. Strain the margarita mixture over the ice carefully to avoid excess pulp. Garnish each drink with a slice of watermelon and a wedge of lime on the rim for a beautiful presentation.
- Enjoy: Sip and enjoy your refreshing Watermelon Margarita, perfect for hot summer days or entertaining guests.
Notes
- Adjust the sweetness by varying the amount of agave syrup to suit your taste.
- Use fresh lime juice for the best flavor; bottled lime juice will affect freshness.
- For a stronger cocktail, increase the spirit amount slightly but balance with lime and agave accordingly.
- Rimming glasses with Tajín adds a slightly spicy twist compared to salt.
- This recipe can be doubled or tripled for larger gatherings.
